Intelligent Calendar

As with paper and pen based journals, Now & Then's calendar provides a convenient, day-by-day chronological record of your life.
Intelligent Calendar
Then the fun begins. Just like the rest of
Now & Then, The Intelligent  Calendar understands your view of the world and how you uniquely perceive, measure, and use days, dates, and time. It recognizes the countless date-based associations among journal entries (entry date and dates referenced in content). It can pull together Virtual Views of memoirs sliced, grouped, re-grouped, compared, contrasted, charted, or arranged along LifeLines.

Using this knowledge, the
Intelligent  Calendar provides endless ways to review your memoirs, navigate by time, and create time links, time maps, and time-focused topics. The "time" dimension enables you review your life, focus on "arcs" of kindred memories, or gather together time-based relationships for people , places, and thoughts. You do so with "time" tools such as Calendar Maps, LifeLines, or the Time Tunnel. You can use the Time Tunnel to narrowly focus on fun things such as:

"what was I doing on this date every year?",
"When did I fell so creative? ", or
"Which years did I run into Mary Smith?"

Of course, you can easily retrieve, arranged chronologically, your memoirs based on Category, Topic, or any subject matter or phrase. Unlike an appointment calendar, the Intelligent  Calendar is optimized for retrospection―to look back in time to discover subtle and hidden associations among seemingly unrelated memoirs.

In the background, the
Intelligent  Calendar vigilantly monitors all new and existing journal information for everything having to do with time. New entries are "date stamped" and compared with all other journal-referenced dates for possible date-based associations and relationships. Calendar-based links and associations are created and modified every time you add information, search, or navigate―and when you create date assignments, rules, and links.

The
Intelligent  Calendar does not require that dates be entered in special formats. It is very "smart" in how it understands and uses concepts such as: days between dates, partial dates, same day each year, day-of-the-week time series, seasons, daytime-nighttime, weekends, holidays, and vacations. It even recognizes references to time and dates such as "Was it about this time in '92 that I drove to the Grand Canyon".

Time is the common dimension along which we mark, measure, and reflect upon our lives. What we thought was funny, scary, or unknowable, changes and is different when we are 5, 15, 35, and 65. The objects of our focus and what we think is important changes. Over time, our relationships, work and living circumstances change. Year-by-year, as journal entries accumulate that describe your experiences, knowledge, and perspectives, the associations, links, and myriad ways to view your memoirs also grow substantially.

The Intelligent  Calendar provides focus and life perspective from the vantage points of both linear and non-linear time. You can review, compare, and contrast aspects of your life using the LifeLine, Time Tunnel, Calendar Zoom, or, This Day - Every Year, Time & Topic, and Calendar Tree utilities.
