Information Entry
You can choose from a variety of ways to assemble and enter journal information.
Entries can include a combination of narrative, structured data, and multimedia. Journal information can natively contain, or link to: multimedia, tables, graphics, calendar timelines, web sites, and other journal entries. Annotations can be added at any time to journal content without changing the original. Annotations may help interpret or add additional perspective to journal entries. A full featured word processor with spell check and thesaurus supports the entry of narrative memoirs.  see: Information Entry
                                                                   
Organization Structure     
You can organize and structure your information as you enter it or add structure later―maybe an organization scheme suggested by the results of your queries.

Independently and non-invasively, Now & Then also analyzes, "chunks", and stores your information to be retrieved and formatted based on its contextual relevance to queries.

Now & Then uses its own "intelligence" and your rules to organize and format retrieved information as a Virtual View―a "virtual" view of relevant journal information assembled into a package of narrative, timelines, charts, and graphics. For example, a Virtual View, may include logged information in table format such as "Calories Eaten & Body Weight", with narrative information regarding your daily exercise, and a chart showing "My Calories & Weight in 2007". Another Virtual View might provide a retrospective of your past jobs, homes, or loves―organized along a timeline.                                             see Memoir structure & organization

Topics, Categories, Tags, & Labels
Typically, categories are broader, less specific, and endure over a longer time than Topics. For example, the more focused topics of "senior prom" or "my two dates to the senior prom" might be assigned to the Category: "High School". You decide what to classify as Categories and Topics. A starter list of built-in Categories includes:

Logging & Tracking
Most journal users log and track information at regular intervals to compare, contrast, measure, or chart the information against benchmarks, milestones, and goals.

Weight, exercise, diet, sleep (hours and quality), medicines, health, and task or project completion measurements are popular logging items. For easy analysis, Now & Then cross-references and graphically presents the information using charts, timelines, and your own narrative.               see Logging & Tracking                                                    

Search
Now & Then's search is intelligent and context and concept-aware. It uses language rules, semantic parsing, term scaling, word classification, and word weighting to find all and only the information you want.   see Search & Query                                                                                 
Review, Browse, & Query
Now & Then uses data "mining" methods to find associations, relationships, and associations among dates and days buried throughout your journal information. Virtual Views which provide structure and context to retrieved information―helping you gain insight from information recorded at different times. see Review & Discovery

Navigation
Navigation can be user directed, based on free association, or machine suggested. You use the KnowledgeTree, links, link suggestion list, and LifeLines to steer through your memoirs―switch from date, to tag, to category, or "mark and collect" as you navigate through a lifetime of information.                            see Navigation

Reports
Pre-built reports including traditional journal formats are available for printing binding-ready monthly, quarterly, and yearly journals. You also have the option designing your own reports from scratch with Now & Then's easy-to-use Report Builder.       see Reports

Administration & Tools
Unlimited configuration options enable you to customize and personalize every aspect of Now & Then's operation, security, selective access / encryption, authorization / authentication, and its look & feel. The customizable interface includes preferences for: entry methods, user menus, query schemes, presentation templates, and skins & colors.
